Earn 3 or 6 Semester Graduate-Level Professional Development Semester Units/Credits from Courses4Teachers Inc./University of the Pacific for Completion of SEL Every Day Online Courses

Two simple steps:

Step 1 – Get to Know the Policies Of Your School District

Some districts require prior approval for graduate-level professional development semester courses and some don’t. Districts vary in policy regarding whether or not they require official transcripts, and districts have different turn-in dates for salary advancement.

It is your responsibility to know your own district’s policies regarding dates you must submit grade reports for salary advancement and regarding their policy in accepting grade reports vs. formal transcripts. Please contact your personnel department for information. There are no refunds for our courses.

What information to provide your district should you need prior approval:

  • University of the Pacific is fully accredited with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
  • 3 or 6 Graduate-Level Professional Development Semester Credits (see section “General Information About Credit…” explaining the semantics regarding CEUs and PDUs among different states)
  • Course Title(s) and Course Number(s) you have selected (Note: if registering for 6 credits, you will need to select two course titles, each for 3 units/credits.)

If additional information is requested by your school district, please do not hesitate to email us (courses4teachers@courses4teachers.net) and we will provide you with any information you need to submit to your district.

Registration and Grade Process

For those registering for 3 units/credits:
With your registration you turn in a copy of your “Certificate of Completion of SEL Every Day Online Course” from Meena Srinivasan.

For those registering for 6 units/credits:
You will need a different certificate of completion from Meena, verifying 45 hours of reading accomplishment. To obtain this certificate you will email a log to Meena that lists the readings you have done, the dates (to the best of your recollection) that you did them, the number of hours per reading, and a quick reflection of each reading.

Once you email your log of readings to Meena (meena@meenasrinivasan.com), she will send to you, via email, your “Reading Assignment Completion Certificate.” You will turn in that certificate, with another registration, and earn an additional three graduate-level professional development semester credits.

Through this reading I learned how an equity lens is essential for understanding the social-emotional development of children, youth, and adults. SEL can promote educational equity by helping all young people reach their fullest potential. Educators can use SEL to promote the cultural assets that all students bring to their classrooms—if SEL instruction and assessments are implemented with a culturally responsive lens.

4/21/20                         Read Mindful of Race                                     8 hours

Through reading this book I examined with fresh eyes the complexity of racial identity and the dynamics of oppression. I took in the guidance on how to work with intense emotions mindfully and how to cultivate a culture of care from a less tangled place to a place of greater clarity and compassion.

4/22/20                         Frameworks Recommended Resources           5 hours

I closely read ALL of the SEL Every Day Frameworks Recommended Resources and gained clarity around what frameworks are, engaged with specific SEL and SEL-related frameworks and analyzed ways to compare and align frameworks as I dug deeply into critical framework related topics

Step 2 – Register for University Credit

We will need three things from you:

  • Registration form completed (one form for 3 units and a separate form and separate certificate, if applicable, for an additional 3 units)
  • Payment of $297 for each 3 semester-unit course; personal check or Visa, AMEX or MasterCard accepted
  • Certificate of Course Completion from Meena Srinivasan

You must select any of these courses titles for three graduate-level professional development semester units/credits.  All course numbers and corresponding titles are applicable for credit.  Select the one you’d like on your transcript.  If registering for six units, you will select two titles.

General Information regarding unit/credit with the University of the Pacific:
States across the U.S. have different terminology to label this type of graduate-level professional curriculum development credit. It can be referred to as “professional growth,” “post-bachelors credit” or “continuing education.” Other terms are used, such as “graduate units,” “graduate hours,” or “graduate credits.”

Regardless of the terminology, and in light of some confusion with semantics among different states, we want to make it clear that these graduate-level professional development courses are designed for professional growth and are available to teachers across the U.S.

These courses will be listed on a University of the Pacific transcript. They are designed primarily for salary advancement and credential renewal requirements. The courses are not designed towards attainment of an advanced degree. You are advised to check with your state board or attending university, prior to registering, if you wish to apply these credits towards attainment of specialty credentials. There are no refunds!

Grade and Transcript Information:
Important:  Should you have any questions about your grade or transcripts, please contact our Courses4Teachers office directly.  Do NOT contact the University of Pacific main campus as these registrations and grades are handled from this office.  Our email is courses4teachers@courses4teachers.net.

Procedure regarding processing and obtaining grades/transcripts: 
After you have mailed in your registration and documentation, you will receive an email from our Courses4Teachers office within 5 business days. This letter is verification that the processing of your grade has begun. Your grade will go through many channels before it is finally posted with the Registrar. This process typically takes 6-8 weeks.  As soon as your grade is posted with the Registrar you will receive an unofficial transcript in the mail, directly from the University of the Pacific Registrar. Some school districts may accept the letter emailed from our office stating your grade is being processed for immediate professional growth and salary increment credit. However, most school districts request the unofficial transcript from the Registrar, and some may request an embossed, sealed Official Transcript.

To Register we will need:

  1. Registration form (please provide us with all the requested information)
  2. Certificate of Course Completion from SEL Every Day (from the past 12 months)
  3. Log of extra hours of professional work if applicable (explained below)

To Register:

  1. Registration form. Here is our new user-friendly registration form REGISTRATION FORM
  2. There is a spot on this new form to attached your Certificate of Course Completion (from the past 12 months).

    Proof of Completion, if required (File types allowed: pdf, jpg, png, bmp, xls, xlsx)
    You will need to save the Certificate as a PDF, JPG etc (NO .doc or .docx) to your desktop before trying to attach it if it isn’t already. (We need this proof of completion before we may process your registration.)
